Click here to view an impressive -- and moving -- extemporaneous speech by Israel's president, Shimon Peres.
Speaking to a gathering of young Israeli technology students, Peres' remarks reflect a boundless optimism and faith in young people. Encouraging them to dream, to disregard the naysayers, to pursue the creative, innovative ideas that drive them -- and not to be burdened by a past they cannot change -- he exhorts young Israelis to move beyond the endless discussions of land and territorial sovereignty, and to bridge the gaps between peoples by relentlessly pursuing innovative solutions to the world's problems, notably energy and water scarcity.
Take eight minutes to watch the video -- and watch, too, the casual yet kindly attitude of the stage hands and media, watching Peres with genuine affection. Eighty-plus years old, and still inspiring a nation.
I have yet to encounter anyone who has seen this short video who didn't find himself changed in some small way.
Very nice. I am glad I finally watched the clip- it was very inspiring.
