The Davos-based World Economic Forum has issued its 2008-09 Global Competitiveness Report and it makes for interesting reading. The rankings are said to reflect "a country's ability to provide rising prosperity to its citizenry."

Canada cracks the Top 10, up 3 places from its 2007-08 ranking. And France climbed two places to come in at 16th, up from last year's 18th spot.
